Crafex vs Sejda: two privacy-minded PDF toolkits, two different promises

Sejda's privacy positioning deserves more respect than sceptics give it. Most server-side PDF tools bury their retention policies; Sejda states plainly that online files are uploaded, processed, and deleted, and its tiny team has built a genuine reputation on transparency. Plenty of professionals trust that promise and are right to do so for most files. The question is what that trust buys you, and whether it is a service you need to buy at all.

A deletion promise is real value when a vendor is honest and the legal regime behind it is strong. Sejda's EU operations sit under GDPR, which gives you enforcement teeth if a processor misbehaves. For a user in India, however, that enforcement is less portable: a GDPR complaint about data processed by a European company is a different exercise from a domestic remedy, and the practical answer for most people is simply 'they say they delete it, and they've been fine so far'.

The hourly free caps add a second kind of friction. Sejda generously lets you work for free but paces you — a certain number of tasks per hour, page limits per job — which suits the occasional user and mildly irritates the person doing an afternoon of cleanup work. Crafex's daily limits reset differently and never interrupt a session mid-flow the way an hourly counter can.

The honest middle ground: Sejda is the right answer for someone who specifically wants a desktop PDF app with local processing, loves the breadth of its page utilities, and accepts the online tier's constraints. Crafex is the right answer for someone who wants the no-upload default without having to remember which edition to use on which device.

Both products are on the responsible end of this industry. When the difference is 'an honest deletion policy you trust' versus 'no deletion needed because nothing was uploaded', the latter is simply less to trust — and less that can go wrong.
